Lynn Business Offers Bonuses For Employees To Get Covid Vaccine

LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A local business in Lynn is vaccinating its employees and giving them a bonus to get the vaccine.

The Director of Operations for Old Neighborhood Foods, Andrew Demakes, said they partnered with Lynn Community Health to offer employees the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

The company paid a one-hundred-dollar bonus to each employee who got the shot. Demakes said this initiative is a way to keep everybody safe and to say thank you to employees who kept working over the past year at this essential business.

"Our employees have worked tirelessly over the past year, coming to work and a lot of other companies had employees not showing up," said Demakes.

Old Neighborhood Foods has around 450 employees that have worked hard during the pandemic.

"We feel we have exceptional employees, so it's the least we can do to try and get everyone vaccinated," said Demakes.

The shots were available this past Friday and will be again Friday afternoon. Demakes also said having the vaccine scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m., on a Friday, was planned out of caution because they didn't know how people would react to the single dose shot.
