LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Lynn teenager is trying for a musical hat trick on American Idol. Amanda Mena has already won a Golden Buzzer on America's Got Talent and won the Kids version of La Voz.
Now, the incoming college freshman wants to go for three. Mena's audition left American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie speechless, and had no critiques of Mena. She won a golden ticket to the Hollywood round of the show.
"It was kind of weird for me not to get any feedback, but at the end of the day I was happy about it because I got the golden ticket, " she said.
Mena's audition aired on Sunday. She's aiming to be a full-time musician as a career, and so far the schedule is packed: Mena is flying between the Dominican Republic to record an album, L.A. to tape American Idol, and back home to Boston.
"This is my dream, and I'm going to chase it as hard as I can, even if it means going on a thousand different shows," Mena said.
The 18-year-old will start her freshman year at Berklee College of Music in the fall.
