BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The remnants of Hurricane Ida soaked New England on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, causing widespread flooding during the Thursday morning commute.
The highest rainfall totals came along the South Coast, with New Bedford getting the most: 9.5 inches. To put that number in perspective, New Bedford's average rainfall for the entire month of September is around 3-4 inches.

The National Weather Service says these rainfall totals are unofficial so far. Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella said the town had received 4.5 inches of rain as of 7:45 AM Thursday.
