BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police asked the public for any information as a potential kidnapping investigation was conducted in Mattapan Monday morning.

Boston Police searched the area of Hiawatha Road in Mattapan after a young girl was reportedly kidnapped. Boston Police say they received a call just before 7:00 a.m. Monday, and witnesses reported a man in a vehicle who seemingly snatched a girl off the street, then drove toward Blue Hill Ave.

The girl is described as being five to ten years-old and hispanic, with braids and barettes in her hair. Police described the reported suspect as a hispanic man in a tan jacket driving a black SUV.

WBZ's Jim MacKay was on scene in Mattapan later in the morning, and reported police were still actively investigating, going door to door and entering one home on Hiawatha Road several times. Officers were reportedly working to verify the legitimacy of the call as of 1:00 p.m. Monday.
