NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A nonprofit on the south coast provides “head to toe” services for the less fortunate.

Not only does Mercy Meals and More in New Bedford provide free breakfast to the homeless six days a week, the non-profit also helps people literally put their best foot forward. They offer a foot clinic complete with foot massages, socks and footwear to those who need them.

Sally Goodman is President of the Board of Directors. She said the doctor, nurse and nursing students who run the clinic work to ensure everyone has proper foot hygiene.

“The feet are washed because a lot of these feet haven’t been washed in a long time, you can’t even really see what you’re looking at sometimes,” she said. “So it’s really a way of rubbing and cleaning and getting people’s feet clean and seeing what they have and maybe seeing what they need.”

The non-profit serves about 60 people every day.
