NEWTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The legacy of a NESN photographer lives on through the opening of a new restaurant under his name.
Café Martin is more than just a tavern, it is a dream come true for the widow of John Martin. Martin died several years ago after a battle with ALS.

While her husband was fighting the disease, Adrienne said the couple’s friends would often gather in their home and call it Café Martin.
“When John was sick, we talked a lot about how grateful we were for the support and what people do who don’t have that kind of support.”

Adrienne said her and John were inspired by the amount of support and wanted to “pay it forward.” Now, Café Martin opened for real on Monday on West Street in Newton.
“It was always my goal to have a Café Martin,” Adrienne said.
There are pictures of Martin throughout the restaurant as well as his press passes and his name is above the door. Café Martin will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week.
