METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in Methuen that happened early Thursday morning, according to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
Police said that at around 5:24 a.m. they responded to reports of shots fired near Kimball Road. Officers found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds when they arrived on scene.

Emergency response crews treated the victim, later identified as Ewdy Lopez, before he was taken to Lawrence General Hospital and later died. Investigators believe this incident was not random but said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

No arrests have been mad and the incident remains under investigation.
