SUDBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A man from Whitman is being called “extremely lucky” by police after a tree fell on his car Friday morning.
Sudbury Police said the incident happened on Route 20 at Brimstone Lane where the man was driving his black SUV until a tree decided to give out and fall on top of his vehicle. The incident caused significant delays in the area and was cleared thanks to “good Samaritans who helped the fire department,” police said.

“I believe that I heard that there was a truck that was trying to help,” said Sudbury Police Chief Scott Nix. “We shut it down [and] re-routed traffic to the extent we could.”

WBZ’s Karyn Regal said the SUV’s windshield looked “torn like paper with chunks of tree caught in the wipers.” There was also an undisturbed ice coffee still sitting in the cup holder.
While the driver was hurt, he did not sustain any major injuries. Sudbury Police on Facebook hoped for a “speedy recovery to the operator.”
