BRAINTREE (WBZNewsRadio) - The town of Braintree is collecting medical supplies for humanitarian efforts on behalf of the people of Ukraine on Friday.

"I believe it's important to stand up and stand with Ukrainian people, that we support democracy and we do everything we can to help aid the people of Ukraine." Mayor Charles Kokoros tells WBZ's Chris Fama.

The drive will run between 3 and 6 p.m. at Braintree Town Hall. All supplies will be delivered to the Chris the King Ukrainian Catholic Church in Jamaica Plain and Ukraine Forward, a group founded by local activists to help get supplies overseas to Ukraine.

They're looking for things like fire care bandages, first aid kits, tourniquets, rapid gauze, clotting gauze, CPR face shields, decompression kits, nitrile medical gloves, ibuprofen, medical scissors, intubation tubes, acetaminophen, hydrogen peroxide, walkie-talkies and batteries along with other items. Supplies can also be purchased online through Amazon and shipped directly to Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church, 146 Forest Hills St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.

More information can be found at the Town of Braintree website. Or you can call the mayor's office at 781-794-8100
