BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A shooting Tuesday evening at TechBoston Academy sent a 17 year-old student and a 31 year-old teacher to the hospital, police say. The search continues for a shooter and a motive.

Police are calling the shooting outside the Dorchester school 'concerning' and 'disturbing,' but fortunately the student and teacher are both expected to recover from gunshot wounds.

Boston Police Superintendent Gregory Long says the two were in a parking lot outside the school getting ready for an after-school event when shots were fired at 5:40 p.m..

"Schools are supposed to be a safe haven for our students and teachers, not a place where they're subjected to brazen and random acts of violence" Superintendent Long said. "This type of behavior cannot and will not be tolerated."

TechBoston Academy is staying closed Wednesday, as police look for a suspect.
