NORWOOD (WBZNewsRadio) - Hundreds of cars lined up for hours overnight waiting for the chance to get a free tank of gas at Rojo's Car Wash in Norwood.

It's all part of Ernie Boch Jr's "April Fuel's Day". Boch announcing earlier this week, he'd be picking up the bill for up to 7,000 gallons of gasoline, first come, first serve. The car magnate said he wanted to give some relief to drivers in his hometown.

Gas at Rojo's was $4.15 a gallon at their 12 pumps before the giveaway. The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Massachusetts today is $4.21, according to AAA.

Boch said he'll pay for up to $75 per tank for each car or truck that comes through between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., or until the gas runs out, Friday. The businessman and philanthropist said the event will end up costing him around $30,000.

Chief of Norwood Police, William Brooks, announcing on social media around 8:15 a.m. that the free gas was all gone.
