BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Boston's annual Wicked Queer Film Festival is back, with a full lineup of in-person and online films.

Last year, the festival was online and virtually screened around 150 films in 45 programs throughout the month of April. This year, the festival kicked off Thursday night at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square.

Running through April 17th, Wicked Queer will screen films all over Boston, with an online option for those who prefer. Their website calls the annual event a celebration and uplifting of queer voices and stories, strengthening the community and preserving "the vibrancy of our histories".

Other film screens will happen at the Brattle, the ICA, and the Bright Family Screening Room at the Paramount Theater.

The festival was founded in 1984 by film programmer George Mansour and is the fourth longest-running LGBTQ+ film festival in North America.
