BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - We are just a few days away from the first April Boston Marathon in two years and confidence is growing that the weather will cooperate.
Of course things could change between today and Marathon Monday, but for now we're hopeful.
The average high for April 18th in Boston is 58 degrees. As of Wednesday, the temperature appears to be between 44 and 50 degrees for the duration of the race, making it ideal running weather, not too hot, not too cold. And it will most likely be dry. Earlier this week there was about a 20% chance of some rain on Monday, more so later in the day toward the end of the race. Those odds have since decreased.
As for the sun, it appears as though it will be tucked away, so the sun won't be a factor for runners.
When it comes to wind, they're likely to wind down from Easter Sunday as we head into Monday. Odds favor a northeasterly wind early in the day, general 5-to-10 mph, which shouldn't impact the race or runners too much.
In conclusion, things are looking quite positive for runners and spectators for Marathon Monday.
