SWAMPSCOTT (WBZNewsRadio) — A fifth-grader from Swampscott is launching his very own fundraiser to help kids in Ukraine.

Charlie Dubow, 11, used his artistic skills to create a heart using Ukrainian colors. He says he was simply using art as a way to express his emotions as the war in the Ukraine continues.

"The blue is tears that we are crying and the yellow is the fire and the passion of the Ukrainians fighting," Charlie told WBZ's Brooke McCarthy.

Charlie's Mom posted the artwork on facebook and people noticed. So he launched a fundraiser to help the children of Ukraine, using his drawn image. The Dubows put the heart on trucker hats and sweatshirts, and started selling them to friends and family members.

So far, they've raised $11,000 with all proceeds going to UNICEF.
