MILFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Salvation Army in Milford are getting ready to erect hundreds of American flags around Milford, Mendon, and Hopedale next week as part of its "Fly the Flag" fundraiser.
The fundraiser lets people sponsor a flag for $50, which will then be erected along with the rest in time for Memorial Day weekend.
Funds raised go towards the Salvation Army's emergency assistance programs, including their food pantry and seasonal assistance.
"It's more than just a fundraiser for us, it's a labor of love," said Salvation Army Captain Kevin Pollito.
According to Pollito, 375 flags have been sponsored so far; their goal is to reach 500 flags.
