8 Hurt After SUV Crashed Into Group Of Motorcycles In Northfield

NORTHFIELD (WBZNewsRadio) - A Rhode Island man is facing serious charges after driving into oncoming traffic and colliding with a group of motorcyclists in Northfield around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney's office, 32-year-old Ryan O'Farrell was arrested on scene with two kids in his car. O'Farrell allegedly crossed the double yellow line on Route 10, while driving an SUV pulling a trailer, when he hit five motorcyclists. Eight people suffered serious injuries in the crash. The two children in the SUV, ages 11 and 12, were also taken to the hospital but were uninjured.

O'Farrell now faces charges including operating under the influence of drugs, operating to endanger, child endangerment, and unlicensed operation. He's expected to be arraigned in Greenfield District Court on Tuesday.
