BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Starting Monday, more than 53,000 replacement driver's licenses and ID cards are being mailed to Massachusetts residents, re-printed after officials caught an error.
Idemia, the Virginia-based company responsible for printing licenses and identification cards for the RMV, says an anomaly in one of its printers lead to the cards missing a fraud-prevention feature.
The currently-issued cards are still valid but they need to be replaced, and the tens of thousands of residents who impacted by the error are being told to destroy their old cards after recieving the newly-printed version in the mail.
