FALMOUTH (WBZNewsRadio) - The decade-long saga for the wind turbine projects in Falmouth and it's about to come to an end. The Cape Cod town has now hired Atlantic Coast Dismantling LLC to demolish the two wind turbines.
Wind 1 and Wind 2 were installed in 2010 and 2013 and faced problems from the start, with numerous complaints from neighbors about noise and health related problems such as headaches and anxiety. Several lawsuits were filed and by July 2017, the select board had voted to shut down the turbines. Since then, the town has been trying to come up with a plan to dismantle the turbines.
The next step for the town will be to finalize the contract with Atlantic Coast Dismantling LLC.
