BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The forecast for the July 4th Holiday weekend is anything but consistent as we go from intense heat on Friday, to thunderstorms and humidity on Saturday, and finally finishing with a beautiful sunny day for Sunday and Monday.
A pleasant start to Friday morning before high temperatures and humidity are expected into the afternoon and evening hours. It's going to be hot, so if you're taking the day off, we suggest hitting up the beach. Temperatures will head into the 90s, but the humidity will lag behind, so it won't feel all that muggy until the 4 or 5 o'clock hour. It'll be hottest in the Merrimack Valley and coolest along the South Coast in the 70s and 80s.
On the Cape, gusty southwest winds move in, with speeds expected to reach 30 mph later in the afternoon.
The stormy weather will move in Friday night across the western part of the state, before traveling eastward through out the night. A cold front will move in by Saturday morning, which may be a relief from Friday's heat. Saturday won't be a total wash out, but wet weather will hang heavy through out most of the day. In the afternoon, there is a chance of heavy rain, gusty winds and even small hail, paired with potential thunderstorms.
Sunday and Monday will make up for Saturday's wet weather. Both days will see highs in the 80s without the sticky humidity and plenty of sunshine.
