South Coast Woman Brings Art History On The Road

HOPKINTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — If you want to learn about art history, ask Jill Sanford.

For twenty years, the Mattapoisett woman has given lectures and presentations all over Massachusetts and Rhode Island, bringing her knowledge to schoolchildren and seniors.

"I actually majored in art history, assuming that perhaps I would become a conservator -- but life kinda got in the way," Sanford told WBZ NewsRadio's Kim Tunnicliffe. "But I kept my love of [art history], and so this was my way to go back to one of my passions."

Sanford brought the show to Hopkinton Thursday. Equipped with a microphone and slide projector, she spoke to several dozen people at the town's senior center about seascape art over the centuries.

Hopkinton resident Pat said she was 'blown away' by the presentation. "She is gifted in her presentation skills. So knowledgable."
