BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - It's the 'Uber' of the high seas.
An app called 'Boatsetter' that allows people with boats to connect to people who want access to a vessel. Whether they're looking for a short sail around Boston harbor, a day-long fishing excursion, or even a week-long island-hopping charter, Boatsetter offers something for everyone and every budget.
Captain J. Weinberg runs day trips out of Quincy and describes the app as something along the lines of 'Uber'.
"It's peer to peer network rental. You have options on the boat where you can either dry hire the vessel which means the owner of the boat will allow someone to take the boat on their own or the captain operates the vessel and the person just goes for a ride." He told WBZ's Chris Fama.
What's more, according to recent data from Boatsetter, the company saw a 200 percent increase in bookings year over year, as more people are opting for staycations and instant bookings.
