ORLEANS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The fins are swarming around Cape Cod and the Islands, as shark sightings hit a spike and even closed beaches for a time this week.

On Friday, the Nantucket Harbormaster issued an advisory that Miacomet, Ladies, and Cisco beaches were closed to swimming, reopened, and then closed again after another confirmed sighting.

According to the Sharktivity app, which was developed with input from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and the Cape Cod National Seashore, there have been over a dozen great white shark sightings along the coast.
