BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The 2021 season ended in a tailspin but Thursday night dawns a new day and a new season for the New England Patriots.

The Pats kick off the 2022 preseason hosting the New York Giants at Gillette Stadium. It's the 31st time the teams have met in the preseason and the 17th straight year, not including the 2020 season when preseason was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, the Giants are the most frequent opponent for New England in the preseason.

So how do New England fans feel going into Thursday night's preseason?

"These guys are gonna win more games than last year and go a little bit further in the playoffs... you just watch" One fan told WBZ's Chris Fama.

"Always go with Bill we trust." Another said. "Bill Belichick always pulled something out of the air"

Pats fans are also looking back on the career of James White Thursday, as the three-time Superbowl champion announced his retirement from the NFL. The star running back thanked his teammates, and said it was an 'honor' to represent New England.
