BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Boston's Museum of Fine Arts is the last stop for the official portraits of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. The exhibit opens to the public on Sept. 3 and runs through Oct. 30.

Unveiled in 2018, the portraits garnered international attention as a striking departure from earlier presidential portraits and images and first ladies.

Former President Barack Obama was painted by Kehinde Wiley and former First Lady Michelle Obama was painted by Amy Sherald. Both Wiley and Sherald are the first Black artists commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery to create official portraits of a president and first lady.

"The Obama Portraits Tour" began in June 2021, visiting six other cities before it's final stop at the MFA. Previous stops include the Art Institute of Chicago, Brooklyn Museum, los Angeles County Museum of Art, High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and de Young Museum in San Francisco.
