Fans of embattled hip hop star Kanye West launched a GoFundMe page — bluntly named “Make Kanye West a Billionaire Again” with a fundraising goal of $1 billion — after West’s finances took a big hit last week.
That specific fundraiser only raised $5 and has since been taken down, as have GoFundMe pages with similar goals that popped up in its place. This isn't Kanye's first go-round with fans and GoFundMe.
A fan previously started a GoFundMe page to raise $53 million for the mogul after he claimed in 2016 that he was in debt for that amount.
The fan, Jeremy Piatt, managed to crowdsource over $57K - but West declined the funds. The money was instead donated to Notes for Notes, a music charity.
