WORCESTER (WBZNewsRadio) - This weekend the city of Worcester is hosting it's annual gun buyback event and this year they've partnered with the national 'Guns to Gardens' organization, which transforms guns into garden tools.

Saturday, Dec. 10th between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. people can bring their unwanted guns to the Worcester Police Headquarters at Lincoln Square. In return, officials will be handing out gift cards of various amounts. You'll receive $50 for a rifle, $100 for a pistol, and $150 for an automatic or semi-automatic weapon.

Organizers ask you bring your unloaded weapons in a plain plastic or paper bag. No gun registration is required.

Non-operable guns, ammunitions and firearm accessories will also be accepted, however no gift cards will be issued for those items.
