BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - "Weather changes, just wait a minute." That's the message from most people we're talking to ahead of the end of 2022.
"I don't know why everyone is always surprised every winter when we get all this crazy weather. Like it's New England, number one, and number two it's winter-time, you know what I mean, you should know what to expect." Another Bostonian said.
Most of Massachusetts avoided snow during the Christmas storm and now it appears as though we'll close out the year 2022 with mild, but wet weather.
By Friday, warm temperatures are expected to move into the area, with highs around 50 degrees and further into the 50s on Saturday and Sunday.
We are expecting rain on Saturday, but the exact time of precipitation remains in question. As of Thursday it appeared the rain may arrive Saturday evening and clear out sometime around midday on Sunday, New Year's Day.
So if you plan on attending Boston's First Night celebrations, you'll want a rain coat or umbrella.
As for Monday's Winter Classic at Fenway, we're watching the ice in the hopes the rink's chiller works as hard as the Bruins do. They'll take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the shadow of the green monster. It's the second time the NHL has hosted the spectacle outdoor event at Fenway. In 2010, the Bruins defeated the Flyers in overtime.
