BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Boston man is accused of hiring a hitman to kill his wife and her boyfriend, according to federal prosecutors.

U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins' office says Mohammed Chowdhury, 46, has been charged with one count of murder-for-hire. In the criminal complaint, an FBI agent on the case said Chowdhury had at first tried to hire another hitman, who disappeared with him money.

A source then gave the FBI Chowdhury's number, telling federal agents that the man wanted to hire a contract killer. The criminal complaint said Chowdhury told an undercover agent that his wife had left him for a new boyfriend, and that he wanted to hire a hitman to kill them both.

Chowdhury allegedly asked the agents how they were going to "disappear" the victims' bodies, and offered them $4,000 per murder as well as pictures of the victims and their work schedules. FBI agents arrested the man after he gave them a down payment on the hit job on Tuesday.

Chowdhury was charged with violating a restraining order from his wife in 2019. Murder-for-hire charges carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to a $250,000. He's due back in court on Friday.
