SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Sci-fi fan? Davis Square may be the place for you, with an around-the clock stream of science fiction movies.
The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival returns for its 48th consecutive year this weekend in Somerville. Festival director Garen Daly describes the event as a "love fest -- for people to get together, have a good time, enjoy movies."
And it's not just flicks on feature. The event also includes workshops, panels, and special events like a costume ball.

The cherry on top rounding out the weekend is a non-stop extravaganza: a 24-hour movie marathon they've been holding since the festival's inception.
"We've got several hundred people coming in," says Daly. "They're going to shoot their ray guns and they're going to eat their Atomic Fireballs; they're going to laugh and they're going to enjoy 1,440 minutes of science fiction films. "
The Boston Sci-Fi film fest is the longest running genre film festival in the country.
