BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - MBTA speed restrictions have been lifted on the red, orange, and blue lines after MBTA officials announced trains would be running at a slower pace than normal for Friday morning commuters across all four subway lines.

Speed restrictions remain in place for the green and Mattapan lines.

The announcement late Thursday night follows a Department of Public Utilities site visit of the Red Line between Ashmont and Savin Hill. MBTA Interim General Manager Jeff Gonneville said repair document inconsistencies discovered during the visit caused the restrictions.

The MBTA apologized for the inconvenience to riders, but on Friday morning, commuters were more than a little annoyed.

"It's honestly frustrating you know? As someone who works in the city, commutes to the city every day, and is an essential worker actually, you know? The fact that it's difficult getting to and from work it makes it, you know, it makes the quality of living difficult," One commuter told WBZ's James Rojas.

Others weren't surprised by the extra wait time.

"The red line has always been messed up so there's nothing new with that." One rider said.
