SHREWSBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Officials are looking for the owner of a dog that was left tied to a bench over the weekend near the Christmas Tree Shops off Route 9 in Shrewsbury.
The Shrewsbury Police Department tells WBZ NewsRadio in a statement that the dog was brought to the Worcester Animal Rescue League for shelter. Police say they are investigating and are working to locate the person responsible for leaving the dog behind, and interview them to determine the best course of action moving forward.

According to WBZ-TV, dog was wearing a black collar with a chain leash and had no microchip— the owner was allegedly spotted leaving the area in a taxi.
