BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The MSPCA and Boston Animal Control are looking for the owner of a stray Pit Bull mix, found rummaging through trash bins outside 247 Callender Street in Dorchester on early Monday morning.

After Boston police determined the resident at that address didn't own the dog, the animal was taken to the Angell Animal Medical Center. Veterinarians discovered several lacerations on the dog's face. It remains unclear how the dog was injured.

“At this point we have more questions than answers and we’re eager to speak to whomever owns this dog or who may know who owns this dog, so we can determine next steps—returning this dog to her rightful home or placing her for adoption,” said Mike Keiley, director of adoption centers and programs at the MSPCA-Angell.

The dog is approximately one-to-two years old.

Anyone with any information about the owner of the dog is asked to contact MCPSA's Law Enforcement department at 800-628-5808.
