FARMINGTON, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Maine jogger landed in trouble last week after being charged by an enraged bull this weekend.

The Farmington Police Department said a woman told them she was was about to start jogging along Whistle Stop Trail on Friday at about 3:00 p.m. The woman said a bull that had been nearby charged her, lifting her up off the ground with its horns.

The jogger was able to flee to some nearby trees. The woman had to get stitches for a cut, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police and the local animal control officer corralled the bull and a "large pig" that was also nearby. Police found the owner and said the local District Attorney's office could bring charges for letting the animal run loose.

Farmington Police stressed that the matter was not a prank, despite being posted on April 1.
