LUDLOW (WBZNewsRadio) - An Eland Antelope is on the lam. The cow-like creature has managed to evade animal control for nearly a week after escaping from the Lupa Zoo in Ludlow.

Authorities say the large animal was last seen in the area of the Red Bridge in Wilbraham and are asking the public to keep an eye out, although she may not be hard to miss. Eland antelopes are considered to be the world's largest antelope and are native to more than 17 African nations.

If you spot the herbivore, animal control is asking you not to approach the animal as she will most likely run. Instead, officials say you should call your local police department or animal control officer.

Lupa Zoo has yet to open for the season, but are preparing for an April 11th opening day, with or without the runaway antelope.
