BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Icons of the Boston sports world are on display this Marathon Monday.
Former Red Sox champions Brock Holt and Ryan Dempster are in the crowd of tens of thousands of athletes running the 127th Boston Marathon today. Hall-of-famer and Sox legend David Ortiz is leading the route as the marathon's Grand Marshall.

WBZ NewsRadio's Adam Kaufman spoke with race course director Dave McGillivray about Big Papi's new role, ten years after he became the unofficial voice of Boston following the marathon bombing.
He's such a good guy," McGillivray said. "Talk about a person who not only can swing a bat, but someone who really cares about this city, and has given back as much—if not more—than most
Longtime Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara is also among the runners, and this morning McGillivray said the champ is a bit nervous.
"Since this is his first time doing something like this, there's those butterflies. But I think once he gets out there and starts moving—he's done the work, done his long runs, he's in great shape. As long as he's patient and runs within himself, he's going to have a great day."
