CAMBRIDGE (WBZ NewsRadio) — Officials are now asking for the public's help in the ongoing investigation of a fire that destroyed a Cambridge church on Easter Sunday.

"We are asking anyone with information on this fire, or who made observations in the area of the church that Sunday evening, to share it with investigators," said Cambridge Fire Chief Thomas Cahill. "No piece of information is too small to share. We are keenly aware that any place of worship is a cornerstone of the community and we want to reassure residents that we're approaching this case with the seriousness and gravity that it deserves."

The fire broke out just before 5:30 p.m. on April 9, 2023 at the Faith Lutheran Church on Broadway. Fueled by strong winds, the fire grew to six alarms. Crews from Arlington, Belmont, Brookline, Boston, Chelsea, Lexington, Malden, Medford, Newton, Somerville, Waltham and Watertown all assisted.

The fire was finally out around 4 a.m. the next day and thankfully no injuries were reported.

The fire is now considered suspicious and a joint investigation including Cambridge Fire, Cambridge Police, the State Fire Marshal's office, FBI Boston, and ATF Boston is underway. Authorities are asking anyone with photographs or videos of the scene, including the days before, during and after the blaze, to submit them online.
