BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has thrown his hat into the 2024 presidential ring.

At a press conference in Boston's Park Plaza today, the nephew of President John F. Kennedy and son of Robert F. Kennedy officially announced his campaign for the Democratic nomination to be president.

But, WBZ’s Jim McKay (@JimMacKayNews) reports, while Robert Kennedy Jr. shares the historic legacy and powerful recognition of the Kennedy name, his family is reportedly not behind his candidacy.

The 69-year-old is a trial attorney, long-time supporter of environmental causes, and an outspoken anti-vaxxer.

Currently, on the Democratic ticket, self-help author Marianne Williamson is the only candidate officially running for president.

President Joe Biden is expected to officially announce soon that he’s running again.
