METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Methuen is repairing the damage after a water main break early Friday morning. Methuen officials said 30 homes were without water early Friday. City water officials told WBZ NewsRadio the water would be back by 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
Crews were called to the scene at 3 a.m., and the city called the break "major." The break itself is on East Street near Swan Street.
Superintendent of Water Distribution Daryl Laurenza told WBZ NewsRadio the city lost about 200,000 gallons of water. The road and some driveways are damaged, and will be patched next week. .
East Street is closed between Russ Street and Swan Street as crews work on the problem. The road is expected to open back up by 5 p.m.
