SOMERVILLE, Mass (WBZNewsRadio) - The quick actions of a Somerville Police Officer, working a construction detail, save the life of a choking baby.

On May 18, Officer Thomas Lambert overheard a call on his radio for a choking baby. Realizing he wasn't far, he ran to Pearl Street and discovered the baby was blue and not breathing.

His training kicked in without hesitation. Officer Lambert flipped over the baby and started bath thrusts until the baby spit up. The baby soon began breathing again as Officer Lambert continued to rub it's back.

The child was given oxygen when the Fire Department arrived before being taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
