BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Boston police are out with a warning after several recent residential breaking and entering incidents in Brighton and Allston.
Authorities said the break-ins have taken place at homes and apartment buildings along Washington Street, Kirkwood Road, Radnor Road, Gerald Road, Foster Street, Commonwealth Avenue and Murdock Street. Investigators believe most of the incidents happened between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. and typically involve a single suspect gaining entry through an unsecured door or window. For the most part, smaller items like laptops and bags have been taken from the residences.
Several of these victims have been area-college students and police are asking those living in the area to make sure their home or apartment is secure, with the doors and windows locked. Investigators believe the suspect may have gained entry by removing an air conditioning unit and are asking residents to remove their AC units, especially those with access to a fire escape.
On Tuesday evening, officers arrested a suspect they believe to be involved in a Breaking and Entering on Oakland Street. While there is someone in custody, officers continue to investigate.
The Boston Police Department is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact District D-14 Detectives at (617) 343-4256.
