BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A local sunglasses maker is setting up shop for the first time as they celebrate 50 years in business.

Randolph Engineering has been doing online orders only until now. To celebrate the store's 50-year anniversary the owners decided to open a pop-up shop in Boston's Seaport District that will stay throughout the summer.

The storefront is their ever first brick-and-mortar store.

"I've been in this business a long time and to see our first retail store direct to consumer is quite an achievement and a new chapter in Randolph's history," Peter Waszkiewicz, president and CEO at Randolph Engineering, told WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe.

The store also launched a 50th edition of their popular aviator sunglasses that are made with 23-karat gold.

"We actually have five styles that were going to be introducing for every decade of being in business," said Waszkiewicz. "We will be releasing one every month."

Stars like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, and James Corden have been seen wearing the brand's aviator glasses. President Biden also has a pair of the company's aviators.
