BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Divers and spectators braved the cold and rain on Saturday for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series at Boston's Seaport.

24 divers jumped from 70 feet high and 90 feet high platforms into the cold Boston Harbor below as spectators watched in awe. 12 women and 12 men participated.

"I think they're nuts! I think they're crazy, I give a lot of props to them," Dylan from Franklin said while watching the divers. "I think this water is going to be freezing, I don't know how they're doing it."

It was about 50 degrees outside with more than 20 MPH winds — a 40-degree temperature drop from the day before.

Orlando Duque is the director of the competition and a diver himself. He won this ten years ago.

"Standing on your feet in this wind 90 feet up in the air is dangerous already, standing on your hands it takes a lot of skill," Orlando Duque, director of the competition and a diver, told WBZ's Suzanne Sausville.

Durque won the competition ten years ago.

He said when he hits the water he can feel overwhelmed with emotion and feeling. Several times he has come out of the water shaking as he experiences intense feelings while the adrenaline rushes through his body in a matter of seconds.

"Before your diving you're worried, you're excited, it's like a challenge and then a second before diving everything is just calm, you are completely focused, you block everything out," said Duque. "And then during the dive is all this action, the speed, everything that you feel."
