REVERE, Mass. (WBZ RadioNews 1030) — After a violent Memorial Day weekend at Revere Beach where three people were shot, the Revere City Council was looking for answers at their meeting Monday night.

Councilor Gerry Visconti said that the violence that happened last weekend just can't happen again. "Imagine having your kids there, enjoying the day, and you get hit by a stray bullet," he said.

When councilors asked Revere Police Chief David Callahan if police had a plan in place to deal with the huge crowds and more possible violence this summer, the chief answered "It's not our beach." He told the councilors that area is under state jurisdiction. "Revere Beach Boulevard and Ocean Avenue are state property," he said. "That area is controlled by the Department of Conservation and Resources and the Massachusetts State Police."

One thing everyone agreed on coming out of the meeting... there needs to be better communication between all law enforcement in the area because summer is just beginning.
