STONEHAM, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - Two people are without a home after a massive fire on Park Street Tuesday afternoon.
The Stoneham Fire Department responded around 4 p.m., after receiving a number of 9-1-1 calls. Firefighters were met with thick smoke and heavy fire coming from the front of the 2-1/2 story home. Two residents managed to escape before firefighters arrived. They were not hurt.
A firefighter suffered burns during the fire attack, he was treated on scene.
"I'm grateful that the residents were able to get out safely," said Fire Chief Matthew Grafton. "Companies made a very aggressive attack and did a tremendous job knocking down the bulk of the fire before getting inside the home and getting ahead of the fire."
No word on what started the fire.
