WESTFIELD, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - Rescue Teams are searching for a missing boater in Hampton Ponds State Park.
The young man from East Longmeadow was last seen Wednesday evening after his canoe capsized in a pond around 6 p.m. He was one of three men in the boat. Two of the men returned to shore and one of them was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Good Samaritans on the beach tried to find the third canoe passenger to no avail. Public safety officials searched the pond and area until around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night and found nothing.
Officials resumed their search Thursday morning and are asking the public to stay away from Hampton Ponds during their search efforts.
