GILFORD, N.H. (WBZNewsRadio) - All is well that ends well after a serious boat crash and dangerous runaway boat on Lake Winnipesaukee.

New Hampshire State Police responded to the lake just before 10:30 p.m. on July 19th, after getting a 9-1-1 call from someone reporting a person in the water, yelling for help. When authorities arrived they discovered a serious boat crash and two people in the water. The victims told officers, there was an uncontrolled boat, still running on the water. The pair were rescued and taken to Concord hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers located the vessel and made what authorities are calling a "valiant and treacherous" attempt to stop the runaway boat. First, they threw a line into the water in front of the boat's path, with the goal of entangling the propellers to stop it, but it didn't work.

Suddenly as officers were making their second attempt to stop the vessel, it unexpectedly turned towards the Marine Patrol boat, causing it to capsize. The two officers went overboard and were pinned under the boat momentarily. Luckily, both were able to escape and get to shore.

In a release, New Hampshire State Police thanked several good Samaritans that helped both the Marine Patrol Officers get out of the water, onto a private boat, and safely to shore.
