BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Boston police have released new video of the vehicle that allegedly hit and killed a four year old earlier this week, as their search for the driver continues.
Officers responded to the area of 165 Wood Avenue on Tuesday evening around 9:30 p.m. and found the boy suffering from life-threatening injuries after getting hit by a passing vehicle. The child was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
According to police, the vehicle did not stop, and instead fled the area.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark grey subcompact hatchback and was last seen driving on Wood Avenue in the direction of Cummins Highway.
The incident has rocked the community and the Boston Neighborhood Trauma Team (NTT) is providing emotional support to anyone who may need.
"I just want to send our condolences to the family and all of the community members and people who loved this little boy," Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said at a press conference late Tuesday night. "It's absolutely devastating to think about what transpired in just a split second."
