REVERE, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A pit bull on the loose, caused quite the scare on Revere Beach earlier this week. Turns out, the puppy just wanted to play.

State Police officials responded to the beach Wednesday morning, for a report of an allegedly aggressive dog on the northern part of the beach. When State Police Lt. Don Bossi and Trooper Ricky Chiampi arrived, they were met with a pair of DCR employees, who had already managed to catch the dog. The pooch, who had no collar or tags on, was anything but aggressive and was only hoping to find a person to play with.

Lt. Bossi, who was once a K9 handler, remembered he had some milk bone dog treats and a leash in his cruiser, and brought the animal to Winthrop Animal control.

That's when they discovered the pit bull was microchipped and his owner was found a short time later. The dog's owner who lives in the Point of Pines neighborhood at the northern end of the beach, was incredibly relieved when the two-year-old named Diesel, was brought home and told authorities, he's figured out how to get out of the backyard on his own.
