BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Starting Thursday, July 27th, the CharlieCard Store will be temporarily relocated to the State Transportation Building.
The new pop-up shop opens at 9 a.m. on the second level inside Conference Room 6, at 10 Park Plaza in Boston. That's just one block from the Green Line's Boylston Station and Chinatown on the Orange Line. The new location will be open the same hours as the permanent location and allow visitors to buy passes, replace damaged or expired CharlieCards, add credit to RIDE accounts, and request formal changes to specialized passes.
The original CharlieCard Store was closed back on July 17th, after an air conditioning issue.
"With direction from General Manager Phil Eng and through close coordination between MassDOT and many MBTA departments, the MBTA mobilized quickly and expedited processes to provide an alternate pop-up store option to riders." The MBTA wrote in a release. "The pop-up store was quickly outfitted with secure infrastructure, computer equipment, and seating areas for riders. Signage and wayfinding was expedited and immediately designed, printed, and deployed within the Transportation Building in order to direct riders to the pop-up store."
