BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - An air quality alert goes into effect starting at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, through 11 p.m. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) issued the alert due to elevated levels of ozone, which is expected to impact Barnstable, Dukes, Nantucket, southern Bristol, and southern Plymouth counties.
The air quality will be particularly unhealthy for people who belong to sensitive groups, such as those who suffer from asthma, heart disease or lung disease. People in sensitive groups should do their best to stay indoors and avoid any heavy lifting outside. MassDEP said it's important to take more breaks and keep any medication, such as an inhaler nearby.
